I got this durring the summer. This is an older recording. And it is a treat to listen to, since it is not the modern version of Les Miserables.

The cast is wonderful.

  • Valjean- Colm Wilkinson
  • Javert- Roger Allam
  • Fantine- Patti LuPone
  • Cosette- Zoë Hart
  • Mme. Thenardier- Sue Jane Tanner
  • Thenardier- Allun Armstrong
  • Gavroche- Ian Tucker
  • Eponine- Frances Ruffelle
  • Marius- Michael Ball
  • Cosette- Rebecca Caine
  • Enjolras- David Burt
This is by far a great recording. It is the Original Les Mis. It's fast durring "One Day More" but slower in "Who am I?" (and in general). It is a treat to listen to and I highly recommend it.

The recording has 2 extra songs in it. The full version of "Little People" and "I Saw Him Once". Both songs are really good, but they were cut out for time reasons.

The cast (as I said) is great! Colm Wilkinson sounds fresh and young in this recording. Frances Ruffelle does a great job with Eponine. She is so powerful and you can feel Eponine's emotions durring "On My Own". Michael Ball is also wonderful. His interpretation of Marius is the best that I've heard, and his voice is to die for.

If you don't have any recording of Les Miserables, I recommend this recording. The cast iswonderful.
